Data Driven Chain of Custody Management
The Problem with the Gold Market
Artisanal and small scale mining operations are growing in their global market share, but almost none of the gold produced makes it to the market legally.
Due Diligence Framework
Octavian reviews our suppliers and sourcing decisions by using our proprietary due diligence management system. This 5-step framework for risk-based mineral supply chain due diligence is specifically designed for responsible sourcing from conflict-affected and high-risk areas.
Establish Strong Company Management Systems
Octavian has developed corporate policies for responsible sourcing, and openly communicates with suppliers and the public. This policy has incorporated the standards against which due diligence is to be conducted, consistent with the standards set forth in the model supply chain policy of the OECD and ICGLR RCM.
Identify & Assess Risk in the Supply Chain
Octavian identifies risks in the mineral supply chain, and assesses risks of adverse impacts in light our supply chain policy standards consistent with due diligence recommendations in OECD and ICGLR RCM.
Design & Implement Risk Response Strategy
Octavian has devised a strategy for risk management by continuing trade throughout the course of measurable risk mitigation efforts, temporarily suspending trade while pursuing ongoing measurable risk mitigation, and disengaging with a supplier after failed attempts at mitigation or where a Company deems risk mitigation not feasible or unacceptable.
Perform Independent Supply Chain Audits
Octavian has supply chain due diligence practices audited at identified points (as indicated in the OECD Supplements) by independent third parties. These audits are within the scope ICGLR RCM.
Report on Issues with Supply Chain Due Diligence
Octavian publicly reports on our supply chain due diligence policies and practices while expanding the scope of our sustainability and corporate social responsibility to cover additional information on mineral supply chain performance.
